By car
The museum is located in Gloucester Docks, close to the city centre. There is no dedicated museum car park, but there are several public car parks within walking distance. We recommend Southgate Moorings - Gloucester Docks Car Park.

Blue Badge holders: First three hours free, then normal tariffs apply.

By train
Gloucester railway station is approximately 15 minutes from the museum by walking, or 6 minutes by taxi/car.
From the station, follow signs towards Gloucester city centre and the historic docks.

By bus
Several local bus services operate between Gloucester city centre, the railway station and Gloucester Docks.

On foot
The museum is within easy walking distance of Gloucester city centre and the wider Gloucester Docks.

By bike
There are lots of cycle routes through Gloucester city centre and there is parking for bikes outside the museum.

Housed within a Grade II listed former Customs House dating from the early 1840s, the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum tells the stories of the county's military past.

Explore more than 300 years of history, from the earliest regimental stories through to the conflicts and experiences of the 20th century and beyond.

Accessibility & SEND

Accessibility

We want as many people as possible to enjoy the museum. The museum has disabled access and accessible toilet facilities, with a lift providing access to the main galleries.

Please note: Our lift is currently unavailable. An alternative route to the galleries is available, but visitors should speak to the front desk on arrival so we can assist.

SEND visitors

We offer SEND-friendly resources, including SEND bags for children, to help make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. Bags include noise cancelling headphones, squeezy toys, soft toys, fidget toys and more. Please request SEND bags at the museum reception when visiting.
