School Visits & Outreach

We utilise our unique collection of over 20,000 objects to offer a wide range of innovative, fun and enjoyable activities to a variety of audiences.

All activities support the National Curriculum and can be adapted to suit the specific needs of visiting groups.

We currently offer the following options for schools;

  • In-house taught sessions for KS1 & KS2 (Primary children). Choose one of our taught session topics which involve lots of hands-on learning, as well as subject specific trails through the museum galleries. Each in-house visit lasts for 2 hours and costs £4 per child.
  • General visit - if you prefer to visit the museum and guide your own groups around (using our gallery trails) you are welcome to do so. General visits cost £2 per person (trail resources are provided free of charge).
  • Outreach session - if you would prefer for a learning officer to visit your school to offer the session, this can be arranged. Please give us a ring or drop us an email and we can discuss your requirements.
  • We have teamed up with our neighbour, the National Waterways Museum, to offer a full day’s learning experience at a discounted rate of £6 per child. For further details please get in contact at the email address below.
