This book covers the experiences of the players between the declaration of war and the entry into a theatre of war; some players entered the war within six days of the declaration while others took anything up to eighteen months.

Describes all the battles that the players were involved in, and the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the players and winning of gallantry medals.

Contains a detailed profile of each player significantly featured in the book detailing his upbringing and education, his occupation, his war time exploits and his sporting achievements.

Illustrated throughout with maps and b&w photographs.

Forewords by Jack Russell (Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and England) and Mike Teague (Gloucester Rugby Football Club , England and the British Lions).

All proceeds to The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum.
